So after all of the preparations and getting our goods packed and shipped, we finally arrived in Munich on March 17, 2014. The first two weeks we stayed at the Hilton until our goods arrived. Our first day was free to explore our new neighborhood and a visit to the train station so Ken could get a ticket to Rosenheim for the next day.
Our first lunch was at Liebig Hof im Lehel. this is a small neighborhood biergarten just across the street from our new apartment. The atmosphere was cosy and the food Bavarian. Ken had the sausage sampler with sauerkraut and I tried the ham platter. We both enjoyed the Bavarian pretzels with mustard.
We headed to the train station to scope things out. Ken had to take an early morning train the next day so we thought it best to figure out the where's and how's of the D-Bahn in advance. The station is quite old and looks like those wonderful European stations you see in all the old movies. The central portion is filled with all kinds of trains and there are two adjacent sections with more tracks.
My brother Mark is a true train connoisseur and I know he will love this place. So just for him I photographed The Spirit of Munich to entice him to visit.
